It seems Dubai might have shrugged off the recession at last, we are seeing a lot of activity in the Used Car division and have even had a few inquiries from people in the property sector wanting to buy cars rather than sell them, so things must be getting better at last. At one point in April we were sold so many cars in a short period that we only had one car here for sale; as you would expect we have since contacted several people who had expressed an interest in selling their cars and we once again have a good range of cars available.
You have been keeping the workshop occupied with several pre-purchase inspections, over the past few months we are averaging three per week, with value now stable, but much lower than last year, this is a great time to buy a Porsche here. For those of you considering buying a car, this same day service provides you with a comprehensive inspection of your prospective purchase and a quotation for any work required, all for Dhs/- 500. In the past two months we have been able to save two customers from potential disasters, one was about to buy a 996 which upon inspection we found had engine problems, which required a full engine rebuild, the other customer brought us what appeared to be a perfect, 20,000kms 997, but which upon inspection turned out to have been subject to an extensive chassis repair, we do encourage anyone buying privately to let us check the car before you part with any money.
The 2009/10 GT racing season has now come to an end and this was a great season for ARM, supporting up to seven cars at each of the National GT Races, but more on this later. The new season starts in October & we are now talking to prospective drivers for next season, so if you are thinking of racing a Porsche next year, speak to Alex and see if we can be part of your racing effort.
Recent highlights from the work shop and body shop include the restoration of a 1992 Carrera Cabriolet, from a near wreck to what must be the nicest 964 in UAE, with a full body restoration and respray, complete new interior carpet & leather, new hood, engine overhaul, wheel restoration all carried out, this car turned out simply stunning. We also converted a 997 GT2 to a full Techart GT Street, with front air bags fitted so that the front can be raised 30mm at the push of a button to get over those annoying speed humps; some of you may already have seen this car as it was featured in Top Performance car magazine.
